Earthquake in Japan

I had prepared a different blog but after seeing and hearing the horrific news from Japan, I felt that my news should wait. So no pretty pictures, no glib personal updates...

We call it Mother Nature, but at times like this I cannot believe there is anything Motherly about it. Mothers give life, create and nurture...
In January, Australia was ravaged by floods and fires. In February, beautiful Christchurch, NZ, was reduced to rubble by the quake. And now in March, Japan is suffering such unbearable pain.
My thoughts and prayers are with the many people affected. I wish there was something I could do to help in any way, but I feel powerless. Nature has sent a reminder of how ineffectual human power is in relation to the natural forces that shape the earth and are in every sense gigantic and terrifyingly awesome. We are fragile. I hope that April brings calm and peace and the power to rebuild these shattered, devastated communities.
